WOMEN'S XV FRANCE OFFERS A VICTORY OVER NEW ZEALAND

They have taken over the hair of the beast! Beaten by Canada on Tuesday, 36-19, the French players won their game against New Zealand, world champions in Saturday in San Diego, on the score of 25 to 16.

The return of their best player 2018, Jessy Trémoulière was felt. On this game counting for the Super Series, the player scored a try, and was very effective in defense. And it worked! The French, who beat New Zealand for the first time last November, renewed the feat this Saturday. But it was not easy! While they were ahead, the French have played the last 10 minutes in double numerical inferiority after the temporary exclusions of Pauline Bourdon in the 72nd, and Gaëlle Hermet in the 73rd. Moreover, this lapse of time allowed the New Zealanders to agree a penalty test, and to go back to 25-16.

If the French women managed to show what they were capable of, they were hurt physically. Les Bleues saw two of their players hurt themselves, namely Gabrielle Vernier, who was hit in the head, and Maëlle Filopon, who was out on a stretcher because of a knee injury. In spite of everything, France will have to quickly recover and do without these two players to face England, this Wednesday, and the United States on Sunday, July 14th.
